Deposit Multiplier

A deposit multiplier is a indicator used in banking for certain calculations in relation to bank reserves and bank deposits. The maximum allowed total amount of bank deposits that a bank can handle is limited by the amount of bank reserves that a bank has. When bank reserves increase the increase in the maximum total deposit limit is not proportional. To calculate the increase in bank deposit maximum, the increase of bank reserves is multiplied by the deposit multiplier indicator.
