Certified Check

A certified check is a check who’s payment is guaranteed, a check which cannot bounce.
When this type of check is issued, the issuer notifies the bank so it can reserve or block funds that the check refers to. By this method the bank takes responsibility for honoring the payment and the issuer can only use the funds if the check is returned by the issuer.
