The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is U.K.'s primary stock exchange, with listings of both UK and overseas companies. The LSE is broken into three sub-markets: the Main Market and the Alternative Investments Market (AIM) as well as the derivatives exchange EDX London. Originally named The International Stock Exchange of Great Britain and Ireland, the London Stock Exchange was created when The U.K.'s six regional exchanges joined in 1973.
